I’m too busy

You’re never too busy; it’s just about prioritizing your time. A workout does not have to take several hours. It’s all about prioritizing, so instead of watching a whole episode of your favorite show or taking a nap, it’s always a better choice to go work out.

I don’t want to sweat

Don’t be afraid of the fashion police. Everybody (or almost everybody) sweats, and it’s natural. If you’re not sweating, you’re not doing it right.

It’s too difficult

Of course it’s hard: no pain no gain after all. Getting in shape doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen. So you need to work for it. Nobody said it would be easy, but the more often you do your workout the easier it will get.

People are looking at me

If you feel like you can’t even mingle with the super-svelte people at the gym until you lose a few kilos, you’re not alone. But there’s no need to worry about all the selfie-taking snobs; after all, they’re only looking at themselves.

Fear of DOMS

We’ve all been there. You wake up the day after a hard workout and feel like you’ve been hit by a truck.. This is called DOMS, or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. DOMS is a type of muscle rigidity that often occurs after hard physical exercise, usually several hours after. You can train a muscle even if it’s sore, however. A light workout the day after, exercising the sore muscle with light weights, can actually have a positive effect on the pain.

I’ll wait until next Monday

And when next Monday comes, what’s the new excuse? Scheduling your workouts is the key to actually making them happen. It’s all about routine, so make a plan for your workout and just get it done. If you missed your workout on Monday, don’t wait until the next Monday to try again. Remember there’s also a Tuesday.
